The 8th Annual Maker Energy Faire was an electrifying success, drawing almost 2,000 students, families, and community members who gathered to explore the exciting world of STEM. This annual event, a collaboration between Culpeper County Public Schools (CCPS) and Career Partners, Inc., continues to grow, inspiring innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning for all who attend.

The Maker Energy Faire would not be possible without the tireless efforts of CCPS’ Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs) and the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Team. These dedicated professionals meet year-round, putting in countless hours to ensure the Maker Energy Faire is an engaging and impactful experience. Their work—from planning and organizing to troubleshooting and interacting with attendees—creates an event that showcases cutting-edge technology and the joy of making and exploring.

Randi Richards-Lutz, CCPS Director  of Career and Technical Education expressed deep appreciation for the ITRTs, “Thanks to your hard work, students, families, and community members were able to experience hands-on learning, cutting-edge technology, and the pure excitement of making and exploring. Your commitment to bringing STEM education to life and fostering curiosity is truly inspiring. This is yet another example of how CCPS continues to lead the way!”

This year’s event featured a wide range of engaging stations and vendors, offering participants the opportunity to interact with innovative technologies, experiment with hands-on projects, and discover new ways to integrate STEM into everyday learning. Stations included Cupcake Decorating where kids could decorate cupcakes with icing, sprinkles, and more in the culinary classroom.  They could drive remote-controlled robots with Culpeper Robotics or create fun videos at Green Screen Magic.  Attendees also got to witness a drone in action, sit inside a real race car, and explore countless other exciting STEM activities designed to spark creativity and curiosity.

Community partners also participated with demonstrations from Able Heating & Air, Cedar Mountain Stone, and UVA Health had a surgical robot demo.  Playdate set up a playroom for our young guests to enjoy.   Food Trucks included Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck, Burnt Ends BBQ, and Moo Thru.

As CCPS reflects on the success of the 2025 Maker Energy Faire, excitement is already building for next year’s event. With continued collaboration, creativity, and dedication, the Maker Energy Faire will only continue to grow, offering even more opportunities for students and the community to engage in the power of making and learning.
