In conjunction with Career Partners, Inc (CPI), Culpeper County Public Schools (CCPS) successfully hosted its highly anticipated Virtual Healthcare Day in collaboration with UVA Culpeper Medical Center on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. The event, aimed at providing students with insights into careers in the healthcare industry, reached approximately 300 students from 16 different classrooms at Culpeper County High School (CCHS) and Eastern View High School (EVHS).
Under the guidance of Jeff Say, Manager of Community Engagement at UVA Health, who served as the moderator, the Virtual Healthcare Day offered a dynamic platform for students to engage with professionals and explore various healthcare career pathways. Students participated remotely, which allowed them to go deeper into some of the settings that they would not otherwise have access to.
Nine presenters from UVA Culpeper Medical Center shared their expertise and experiences with the eager participants. Presenters came from a variety of areas within the medical center, including pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, nursing, rehabilitation and the chief operating officer. Through informative presentations and interactive sessions, students gained valuable insights into the diverse opportunities available in the healthcare sector.
The event not only provided a unique learning experience for students but also served as a testament to the strong partnership between Culpeper County Public Schools, Career Partners and UVA Culpeper Medical Center in nurturing the future healthcare workforce.
The Virtual Healthcare Day received positive feedback from both students and educators, highlighting its effectiveness in inspiring and empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals.
"We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the Virtual Healthcare Day," said Randi Richards-Lutz, Director of Career and Technical Education at Culpeper County Public Schools. "This event underscores our commitment to providing students with comprehensive exposure to various career paths, and we are grateful to UVA Culpeper Medical Center for their invaluable support."
“UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center staff were thrilled to once again participate in Healthcare Day with Culpeper County Public Schools and Career Partners,” said Jeff Say, Manager of Community Engagement for UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center. “By giving the students a glimpse into the field of healthcare, we are hoping to fill the pipeline with energetic new employees that will propel our field into the future. Students like those in the classrooms at Culpeper County Public Schools are the future doctors, nurses, radiology and lab technicians that will be helping care for our community. Fostering their interest in the healthcare field is of utmost importance, and being able to relate to our staff like Dr. Nael Hasan is a valuable tool for these students. Healthcare Day is always one of our favorite days of the year and we are excited to continue this partnership.”
