My goal as an ITRT is to help facilitate a 21st century classroom experience for students, parents, and staff. This is my second year as an ITRT, and I have enjoyed working with CCPS teachers and students in integrating software and educational devices within the school. I started my teaching career as a 7th Grade English teacher back in 2010, spending six years in Stafford County and one year in Orange County. During that time, I always enjoyed integrating technology into my classroom, and it sparked an interest in me to pursue my education further in the field of IT. I have a bachelor's degree in English, and in 2017, I received my Computer Applications Development Certificate from Liberty University, with a focus on programming languages. Whether it’s the creation of robots, teaching students how to code, or simply troubleshooting computer issues, the more we can prepare our students with the skills they need for a changing future job market the better.

As an ITRT I encourage and support the use of 21st century technology in Culpeper Middle School classrooms. I come from a science background and taught science at CMS for four years and technology for one year. I received my teaching degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Earth and Space Science. My goal at CMS is to co-create and co-teach lessons with teachers to help facilitate the use of technology and prepare our students to succeed in a 21st century world. At CMS our goal is to lay the foundations for strong communities. Together we will provide a learning environment that enables all students to develop academically and physically, to act responsibly, to think critically, and to become productive members of society. The mission of an ITRT is to provide effective support for curriculum and technology integration. The main challenge is to provide adequate training and support to bring teachers—at every point of the continuum, from technophobia to technomania—to an adequate level of technical expertise to meet learning goals.

Education today should have a clear emphasis on building strong relationships with students and on developing engaging student-led or project based learning experiences. Those experiences should emphasize solving real-world problems, career exploration, and the development of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. I have been an educator now 22 years. I spent my first 10 years in the classroom teaching middle school in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties. Upon the birth of our first son and the completion of my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction we moved back to my home town of Culpeper County. I’ve been an ITRT for CCPS for 11 years. In my role I support the students and staff with integrating technology, because when properly integrated into the curriculum the technology can transform the learning process. Technology improves student processes and outcomes, and engages the learner where they become creators and critics. When technology is properly embedded into instruction the teacher grows into the role of adviser, content expert, and coach. The integration of technology makes teaching and learning more meaningful and fun!

As the proud ITRT of Eastern View High School, welcome to our ITRT webpage and Cyclone Nation! It is my honor to serve as your child’s instructional technology resource specialist and serve our great community. As we continue to enhance our mission of creating opportunities and building communities, we will strive to instill the principles of honesty, integrity, trust, accountability, and responsibility as the cornerstones of Eastern View High School. We understand the importance of developing the whole student through extra- and co- curricular experiences, while continually challenging each student’s intellectual capabilities. Our mission recognizes and encourages not only one’s own development, but the development of working relationships as our responsibility to lay the foundations for strong communities playing a vital role in our overall objective. Together we will provide a learning environment that enables all students to develop academically and physically, to act responsibly, to think critically, and to become productive members of society. Thank you, in advance, for enhancing student success through a strong home /school partnership.
