Two of our newest stallion staff members are really getting into the spirit around here! Check out Mrs. Cruz, and her mini me, and Mrs. Parkinson! Festive for sure!

Students in Miss Mahokey and Mrs. Cruz's class worked hard and used their knowledge of Native Americans to complete a breakout just in time!!

Students in Mrs. Yost’s class completed an erosion experiment where they observed "rocks" in the form of 3 different types of candy. They paid close attention to how the rocks were changed by moving water vs still water!

Congratulations to all of our spelling bee contestants who participated in today’s spelling bee. Special shout out to our top three winners who will move on to the county bee in January. Go stallions!

For anyone interested in participating in Yowell's Angel Tree, here is some important information!

Today was the first run of the Specially Brewed Coffee Cart! The students had a great time delivering coffee and hot chocolate to staff. We cannot thank those that donated items to our coffee cart and those that ordered from us enough. Thank you all for supporting our children.

We have a lot to be thankful for here at Yowell. Some students in fourth grade have been working on a writing piece dedicated to something they are grateful for. Here are some highlights from Ms. Heaney's reading class. We hope that you have a safe holiday break and that you take this time with your loved ones to reflect on all the things that you have to be thankful for.

We would just like to say thank you to everyone for their support during last week's production of 101 Dalmatians. We couldn't have done it without our volunteers, parents and amazing Yowell staff! We had a great time and can't wait for next year.

Hey Yowell families! Our school will be holding a canned food drive beginning on November 28th and running through December 12th. We will accept non-perishable food items and canned goods. No glass please. See the flyer for more information.

Mrs. Wheeler’s third grade class has been working on telling time to the nearest minute. This week students worked in cooperative learning groups to build an analog clock using unifix cubes to represent each minute. They also used the blocks to build the minute and hour hands, making sure the minute hand was longer than the hour hand. Then they took turns moving both hands to show different times. Students also used the Judy Clocks to practice reading clocks to the nearest minute and finding elapsed time in hour increments, by manipulating the clock and using it like a number line.

Ms. Erika and her students are working on identifying size of the problem, recognizing needs, and increasing the use of positive self-talk. Through self-monitoring, students are identifying their strengths and expanding their toolbox of healthy coping skills and effective strategies to help them be their best. Students are meeting their goals and celebrating the positive!

Mrs. Galenski has been busy teaching our students how to code. I think we have some future software engineers on our hands!

Some of our fabulous stallions are out here supporting CMS today and watching their production of The Little Mermaid. Check out CMS’s website for more performance times. You don’t want to miss this!

Happy Veteran's Day to all of those who have served or are currently serving. We at Yowell thank them for their service.

Mrs. Clark’s class followed a recipe while doing a sequencing activity. They made Pumpkin Fluff. Yummy!

Mrs. Woods' homeroom class enjoyed pajama day during their morning meeting and her reading class worked hard in the STEM Zone doing a breakout activity learning about the seven continents.

A note to all of our 101 Dalmatians families. Practice for cast and crew will be after school tomorrow. Pick up will be at 5:00 pm in the lower bus loop.

During the month of November, we'd love to hear from our valued families about what you are grateful for at Yowell Elementary School. Please take a brief moment to express your gratitude via this link to our amazing staff which will be shared with them prior to Thanksgiving. Your words of appreciation make a great impact on our climate and culture. Thank you!
