On October 10, 2024, students from the Phoenix Alternative Education Program took part in a comprehensive campus clean-up, covering Culpeper County High School, Culpeper Middle School, the CCPS Transportation department, and the Annex building. This initiative supports the global effort to promote clean water, with the event sponsored by a local business that will be making a donation to Wisdom Spring, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing clean water to communities in need. To date, Wisdom Spring has successfully completed 47 well projects in West Africa, helping transform lives in water-scarce regions.
This marks the third consecutive semester that Phoenix students and staff have joined this important initiative, raising awareness about the global need for clean water. The ongoing participation emphasizes the program’s commitment to fostering social responsibility and environmental stewardship among its students.
The campus clean-up follows last month’s kick-off event, “The Great Duck Race,” where students learned about the importance of protecting watersheds from pollution. As part of their hands-on education, students are gaining a deeper understanding of the global water crisis. Witnessing the direct impact of litter on local watersheds has inspired many to take action, not just for their own community, but also for communities worldwide that lack access to clean water.
