Eastern View High School’s FFA chapter has just been selected as one of the top 23 chapters in the state of Virginia for the 2024-2025 school year and will be considered for the Star Chapter Awards. The National FFA Chapter Award Program recognizes FFA chapters that actively implement the program’s mission and vision through well-rounded activities that foster student growth, strengthen agriculture education, and serve their communities.
Out of 227 total chapters in the state, EV’s program was awarded a Virginia Gold Level grade. This program encourages FFA chapters to create meaningful, high-impact projects that align with FFA’s core values while making a lasting difference in their schools and communities. Chapters are evaluated based on the National Chapter Award Program’s three divisions: Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture. Each chapter had to complete 15 activities that specifically align to 15 specific categories.
Eastern View’s projects included a leadership scavenger hunt, a teen driving program, a senior center collection drive, a fall festival, and more. They also participated in FFA Day at the Capitol, in which students visited with state legislators along with 600 other members from across Virginia to advocate for agriculture and agriculture education.
In addition to Eastern View’s success, Culpeper County High School’s FFA chapter also received a Gold rating. CCHS FFA sponsor Laura Delano shared, “CCHS will be advancing to National judging as well. This is a back-to-back gold rating for us, so we are very excited.”
The National FFA Convention will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from October 29 to November 1, and both Eastern View and Culpeper County High School’s FFA chapters will represent their schools at the national level.
