Culpeper County Public Schools (CCPS) proudly hosted the 2024 Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Spring Central Region networking forum on March 12, 2024 at the Culpeper Technical Education Center (CTEC). The event welcomed esteemed school board members from across the 11 counties in the VSBA Central region for an evening of collaboration, learning, and camaraderie.

Highlighting the region's commitment to educational excellence, the forum provided a platform for leaders in education to exchange ideas, share best practices, and foster meaningful connections. Attendees were treated to an engaging program that encompassed a wide range of topics pertinent to the evolving landscape of education.

The evening event included dinner, which was catered by the CTEC culinary program's acclaimed Blaze Kitchen, showcasing the culinary skills of our students. Guests enjoyed musical entertainment performed by the  Eastern View High School (EVHS) band and choir.

The program featured an insightful VSBA update and the 2024 Central Region VSBA Art Contest announcements from Gina Patterson, VSBA Executive Director. Then, Dr. Cardell Patillo shared greetings with the attendees.   Dr. Patillo is the VSBA President and traveled from Portsmouth, VA to be a part of this event.

Guest speakers Brenda Byard and Dr. Keyanna Hawkins from Germanna Community College spoke to the audience about early college programs, emphasizing the pivotal role of collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of education. Their valuable perspectives resonated with attendees, fostering a sense of shared purpose and dedication to advancing student success.

As the evening drew to a close with final remarks from VSBA Central Region Chair Graham Paige from Albemarle, attendees departed with renewed enthusiasm and a deeper sense of community, empowered by the connections forged and the knowledge exchanged during the forum.

CCPS is grateful for the opportunity to host this important event and we are proud of our students from the Blaze Kitchen and EVHS band and choir for their contributions to make the 2024 VSBA Spring Central Region Networking Forum an evening to remember.
