large group of students in front of stage curtain

Emerald Hill Elementary was abuzz with excitement on the evening of Friday, March 22, 2024, as the curtains rose for the second annual production by the EHE Drama Club - A Night of Fairy Tales. With a blend of classic tales and modern twists, the stage came alive with six captivating plays: A Day in the Life of a Bear by Andy Pavey; Little Red by Andy Pavey; Three Little Pigs by Jennifer Reif; Fairy Tale Game Show by Debra A. Cole; The Pied Piper by Andy Pavey; and Cinderella by Jennifer Reif.

Under the guidance of dedicated drama teachers Emily Bragg, Jessica Allison, Angie Hoagland, Nikki Alther, and Debbie Gaulden, the 4th and 5th grade performers brought to life iconic characters and timeless stories, sharing their talent and passion for the dramatic arts. Drama Club students participated in a twenty-four-week long adventure, learning the basics of stage acting, improvisation skills, and character development. Students also had opportunities to learn about costume design, playwriting, directing, stage management, and marketing. A “Saturday Set Day” provided a hands-on opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the technical aspects of theatre, from painting backdrops and set pieces to designing props, fostering a sense of ownership and collaboration in bringing the stage to life.

The EHE Drama Club put on an amazing show for family and friends, but the magic didn't end there. EHE Drama Club delighted the entire school with encore performances of Cinderella and The Pied Piper on Friday, March 29, 2024. The enthusiastic response from students affirmed the transformative power of the arts within the school community.
