The mission of Farmington Elementary School is to work with students, family and community in providing a safe, academically stimulating and nurturing atmosphere for the education of our children.

This environment will enable each child to reach his/her potential intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. We will strive to develop in each child the discipline, pride, self-worth, and confidence necessary to become a well-balanced, empathetic and responsible member of society.

Farmington Elementary School recognizes the uniqueness and individuality of each child. We are a community of learners. Students, staff, families, and the community work together as partners in the learning process to achieve academic, physical, emotional, and social growth of the highest quality.

Most school work is completed under the supervision of the teacher during school hours. Teachers, however, periodically assign additional work to be done outside of the school. Homework is viewed as one part of the teaching-learning process. When used effectively, it helps students use independently what they have learned, develop responsibility, and demonstrate commitment to learning. Homework provides an opportunity to learn to use time productively.

Although all schools support homework as an essential component of the learning process, it is employed in a variety of ways. Parents are encouraged to confer with the teacher or principal about specific practices related to homework (weekly work will be sent home to parents). Parents are requested to review their child's work, sign the folder, and return it to their child's teacher the following day.
